ABOUT THE MOVIE:
In a grim and dusty battlefield showing during the ongoing World War II, a soldier managed to pull up a dhol (drums), and start beating out a Punjabi tune. His song, full of energy and enthusiasm, rejuvenates his worn out company charge once again into battle. Actor Sunny Kaushal plays the soldier and then in the next scene directly cuts to a modern day college set up in the historic city of Amritsar, where girls are shown auditioning for a spot in a blockbuster Bhangra troupe. Not to a surprise, actor Sunny Kaushal is the lead dancer of that very troupe.
The story-screen play written by Dheeraj Rattan’s brings about a deep connection between two characters – Captaan from the 1940s and Jaggi Singh from 2019. Jaggi who is a Part time DJ, is shown highly interested in qualifying for a Bhangra competition which is to be held in London. He is of the thought that doing so will somehow give him and his country a chance to celebrate his dear departed grandfather’s (Captaan) legacy of Bhangra.
The moment he spots Simi dancing up a storm at a wedding he thinks he has found the perfect female counterpart. However, the bubbling romantic journey turns toxic when Jaggi discovers that Simi is in fact a member of the rival college’s troupe, with equal ambition so as his. She is someone, who too wants a spot on the Bhangra Battle in London in order to put some personal vendetta to rest.
Bhangra Paa le is a film that gets a much-needed boost of energy when the entire action shifts to Jaggi’s hometown, where he cobbles and stitches together an earthy set of dancers, called Pendu Club, to fulfil his dream. The Bhangra Battle in London is the setting for the final showdown. What will happen next? What turn will Jaggi and Simi’s romance take? To know more watch Bhangraa Pa le today on Filme!
